FAQ: About Wake
How is Wake produced?/Why is it so
ugly?
I draw Wake in a sketchbook and then scan it, excepting of course those pages
that were done differently O.o For the most part, it's
sketch-and-scan for Wake. My art supplies are Faber-Castelle. Once its scanned,
I usually beat my scanner up because I don't know how to prevent auto-crop, then
scribble all over the top of the page, scan it again, and erase the scribbles.
I'm not very bright with computers, obviously. Anyway, after its saved, it gets
resized and cropped in Photoshop, the frames (and other straight lines) are
added in Painter Classic, the grey tones are added in GiMP, it goes back
to PS and the ever-wonderful dodge-and-burn tool is used in excess. All this
must be done while listening to an energetic soundtrack of jpop mp3's, or
the whole process goes to hell. These steps were only used for the most
recent pages, of course, since the older pages obviously don't make use of
computer-straightened lines or dodge/burn (those all came about after I got my
Wacom tablet).
Why don't you update more often?
I'm lazy.

No, but I'll probably say yes when you offer just so you'll give it to me....
Do you accept guest-art?
Sure! Make my bois shiny!
Do you do link exchanges?
If you want to, sure; but unless your site is really shiny the link'll be put in
an "exchange" section rather than in one of the specific categories.
Will you tell me what you think of my
art/webcomic?
Of course! I'd be flattered to! However, when someone asks for my opinion, I'm
honest. Brutally. So, be prepared!

Who/What are your major influences?
CLAMP, Amano Yoshitaka, Higuri Yuu, Murikami Maki, Poppy Brite, Mary
Renault, Be-PAPAS, Takashima Kazusa, the color blue, kiwis, rock candy, and
over-priced floral arrangements. I also enjoy taking long walks on the beach and
listening to elevator music... O.o
Are you/will you be a professional
artist?
No, actually I'm an anthropology major. Go figure.
Are you a guy or a girl?
I'll give ya two guesses...
All your characters are gay! Are you?
All my characters are not gay! Not even in Wake! Look at Clive, the Token
Straight Guy! Not gay! And, about me? I can't answer that simply. Sex is one of
those special unions shared between two (or three or twelve) people that can
only be shared when excessive amounts of alcohol, or at least a fair amount of
cash, is involved. It has nothing to do with gender...
